In 2017, YAPE was born as a self-driving ground drone to transform logistics and last-mile delivery. More than a prototype, it showcased the innovative YAPE Autonomy Platform, a modular, vehicle-agnostic autonomy solution.
With advanced sensors and seamless connectivity, YAPE was meant to navigate and interact with smart city infrastructure, proving the potential of autonomy in real-world conditions.
To refine its technology, YAPE partnered with leaders like Japan Post, Malpensa, and Frankfurt Airports to test autonomous delivery in high-traffic areas. Collaborations with UpTown Milan and the EU Commission JRC demonstrated its integration into smart cities, while work with Politecnico di Milano helped fine-tune key technologies like perception and localization.
After YAPE’s experience in last-mile delivery, the vision was clear: expand the YAPE Autonomy Platform to different vehicle platforms. This came to life with Rob.Y – a fully autonomous digital chassis, developed in collaboration with e-Shock and Streparava. This milestone marked the first major expansion of the YAPE Autonomy Platform, showcasing its mapless, scalable autonomy across diverse vehicles and opening the door to multi-vehicle applications beyond logistics
In 2024, YAPE capitalized on the expertise gained in previous years in autonomous driving, focusing on software technology and opening collaborations with key players in the agriculture and off-highway market.
